Original Nov 4 10:00 a.m.: The Board of Directors for Westlake Municipal Utility District No. 1 (Westlake MUD 1) wish to keep residents and businesses informed of events happening within this District. In an effort to ensure the integrity of the infrastructure, Westlake MUD 1 has asked Inframark, the District’s operator, to begin the process of identifying and addressing the aging isolation valves within the District’s Water Distribution System. These valves are integral components in the water system infrastructure: they ensure that scheduled and emergency repairs can be performed without causing a service interruption across the whole system. The process of evaluating and replacing these valves will occur in stages. This current step of replacing High Priority Valves will ensure that future scheduled and emergency repairs can be completed without effecting the entire community.
The replacing of the High Priority Valves will commence on Wednesday, November 4th. Throughout that day, Westlake MUD residents will see a heightened presence of Inframark and construction personnel preparing for this project. Construction crews will be performing the initial excavations during daylight hours so that, when water service is shut off at 10 pm, Inframark can immediately begin working on replacing the High Priority Valves. These excavations, once complete, will be roped off with safety netting for the night’s upcoming work.
Water service to the District will be shut off at 10 pm and crews will begin removing and replacing the high priority valves throughout the system.
All construction work is scheduled to be completed by 3 am, however if a significant issue is encountered, this deadline could be extended.
Once construction is complete and water service is restored, Inframark will begin flushing the water distribution system to ensure water quality is 100% restored. This process will take at least 3 hours but could take longer. Inframark recommends residents flush their home’s water lines by running an outside water faucet for 5 to 15 minutes on Thursday morning (November 5th) This will help eliminate air bubbles in their lines or discolored water that might be present from entering the water lines in their home.
After noon on the 5th, if a resident is still experiencing discolored water and/or air in the lines, the fastest way to have the issue to be addressed and resolved is to contact Inframark directly at: (281) 579-4500. Inframark personnel will notate their account, dispatch a Field Technician to their address, evaluate the reported issue, and take any necessary steps to resolve the matter.
Westlake MUD 1 and Inframark would like to thank you in advance your patience and are taking every effort to affect these repairs overnight to minimize any potential inconvenience to you and your family during these repairs. It is the goal of the District to ensure that everyone in our community has up to date information before and during this project. For more information, and to receive future alerts, please contact Inframark at (281) 579-4500 and update your account with a current cell phone number.
